Pearls & Roses

A glimpse into my very own wedding day.

Revolved around a theme I called ‘Pearls & Roses’ because I always feel pearls are the epitome of luxury and because it was also a gem featured on my engagement ring. Flowers (which I had always disliked using as a wedding theme) ended up becoming the main focus as it was a symbol to also pay tribute to Billy’s late mother who’s English name was Rose. I wanted a soft luxe, but modern aesthetic with beautifully curated pieces throughout. Kath (from Bow) and I worked very closely on a vision and she absolutely nailed it!

I had only very few must haves which included:

  1. I really wanted Tremella Botanicals to do my florals

  2. I wanted to incorporate disposable cameras instead of a typical photobooth

  3. I wanted to do a first look rather than photos after the ceremony (taking daylight savings into consideration)

  4. I wanted to add colour where possible

  5. I wanted unique items that not many people normally do for weddings - e.g. my guest book was an audio guest book instead of a written one.

As for colour theme - I took the ‘something blue’ tradition and ran with it but in various ways. I found ways to incorporate it in most of our stationery, my bridesmaid’s dresses (all bought online) and even on the day with our florals.

The stationery pieces were important to me of course. I wanted to find ways to make it personal.. so I played on the fact that Billy and I had been together for over a decade at that point and that the invites were to symbolise our relationship ‘blooming’ into our next phase in life. I also got our family portrait illustrated (a way to include our fur babies) to be used as stamps on our envelopes.

But if there’s anything I learnt, planning your very own wedding which meant spending your own money was a whole different ballgame! I kept reserved on most of our wedding budget but chose very specifically on where to splurge. Our photographer, stationery (of course) and oh!, an amazing stylist and coordinator of course, hehe! Definitely consider adding this to your budgets if you would prefer a hassle-free day! I was so so glad at the end of it that I had someone doing most of my coordinating and planning as I was stressing at the end (which I didn’t think I would).

But at the end of the night, if there was anything we realised, was how amazing our DJ (Frankiie on IG) was! Till today, I still have friends that commented on how great he was and he read the room and the vibes so well. I honestly think that as long as there’s good food and good music, that’s all any event really needs and I’m so thankful for my vendors (all of them).

So here’s some photos for you to enjoy and hopefully get some inspiration too!

xx
