So you’re planning your wedding, but you’re starting to see the numbers add up. Are you freaking out yet?

Invitations are arguably a non-negotiable when it comes to weddings, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend a bomb on them either. With micro weddings growing rapidly at the moment, it’s easier to maximise your budget and here’s how!

TIP 1: Consider having a smaller party
Your wedding should be about the union of you and your significant other. The whole world doesn’t need to be invited. Smaller parties means less costs all around and with most of your guests being from the same family or in parties of 2, you’ll only have to order a handful.

TIP 2: Go digital!
Keep it trendy and modern by sending out digital invitations. With technology being at the core of our everyday life, it’s less of a hassle to send them out via text message or email. Should your wedding get postponed, it’s also much easier to send a new one out.

TIP 3: Don’t go for all the bells and whistles
Prefer to send out physical invitations? No problem! But you don’t have to splurge on all the bells and whistles like foiling or letterpress. In fact, keeping your print method super simple like a digital print is much more cost effective. Don’t print any white inks as that’s more costly too and avoid any intricate shapes that will require a custom die cut plate made for you.

TIP 4: Plan in advance
We’ve had couples who decided to marry in weeks. The reality is, these things take time to plan and budget for. The more time you allocate yourself, the easier it will be. Always allocate more as an emergency should your needs/wants change when it comes to ordering your invitation. You never know if you end up having to invite more people than you had originally intended. Don’t rush the process! (unless you have extra cash to spare, then by all means!)

TIP 5: Ask if your venue or caterers offer additional stationery items as part of their package
Chances are, your venue would include complimentary menus or place cards on the day as part of your package for booking them. Despite the fact that they might look a little inconsistent in comparison to your invitations, anything free…is always a good idea!
